About Me

Welcome to Under the Stoa, a blog about modern Stoic living and Modern Stoicism.  In this blog, you will read about the musings of one man (that'll be me), as I adventure though Stoic philosophy and life in general.

I am Kyle.  I am personally a Stoic/Buddhist mix when it comes to my philosophy.  I came to Stoic Philosophy while studying Buddhism and while also studying Freemasonry, trying to find a way to reconcile the two.  I always had the Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, but never really looked into Stoic Philosophy until I began self-reflecting on what my worldview is.

Spiritually, I am a Polydeist. I believe that there are indeed many deities but they do not take an active role in our world.  Miracles to me are the everyday ordinary things that make life wonderful, and not theophanies and walking on water and all of that.  Buddhism plays the major part of my spirituality, as I try to revive a modern form of Greco-Buddhism that was once celebrated amongst the Bactrians and those Greeks left behind by Alexander the Great.  I also venerate the Thelemic deity Ra-Hoor-Khuit.
